Temple Hills covers an area of 1.4 square miles where land takes up a total of 1.4 square miles and water, 0 square miles. It is currently elevated at a height of 269 feet above sea level.

Named after a 19th century doctor

Dr. Edward Temple - Temple Hills has become home to garden apartments, duplexes and single family homes. These homes were constructed around 1950s to 1970s. It is believed that Dr. Edward Temple first settled in the area and built a home close to present day Henson Park.

Temple Hills is bordered by the large community of Hillcrest Heights.

Establishment of Temple Hills

Temple Hills was founded after Dr. Edward Temple, whom the suburb is named after, first settled close to present day Henson Park. Little is known about Dr. Edward Temple but as the name suggests, he set up a practice in the area to provide medical services.

As years went by, the suburb of Temple Hills grew to accommodate garden apartments, duplexes and single family homes. Today, the area has 3,156 households with 1,937 families. Out of the 3,156 households, 36.7% has children under the age of 18 years and 28.8% has married couples.

Although Temple Hills is a suburb composed of family homes and apartments, there are a few attractions you can get to enjoy when you visit. One of the most popular attractions in the area is Henson Creek Park. Renowned for the 5.7 mile Henson Creek Trail, the park offers family friendly facilities like picnic areas, soccer fields, baseball fields, BBQ areas and others.
