How cold laser therapy works and why I use it in my office?

Therapeutic lasers have been used in the healing people for many years.  At first I was somewhat skeptical of a laser healing people, but as more research came out and my colleagues were getting great results with their patients.  I decided to give it a try and got a unit.  I first tried it on myself on a recent Injury on my thumb that has been nagging me for months.  I tried it on myself for 3 times per week for 2 weeks and within the first week I noticed a big improvement, but after the 2 weeks I can honestly say that my pain and problem was resolved.

They way it works is by supplying energy to the body or body parts in question in the form of photons of light.  This light or laser can penetrate the skin up to 5 centimeters. The body is able to absorb this external light or energy on a cellular level, specifically it targets the mitochondria of the cell which helps to accelerate the healing process.

The type of therapeutic laser used at Rosa Chiropractic in Falls Church is called a class 3 cold laser (also called a Low Level Laser) because it operates at a light wavelength that will not increase the thermal temperature of the area.  This is cleared by the FDA.  Cold Laser looks like a therapeutic ultrasound unit. If you have ever ultrasound done in a chiropractic or physical therapy offices then you\'ll know what  it looks like. Often times it get mistaken for an ultrasound unit.  The laser is placed over the injured area for a few minutes or so depending on size of the area and the dose.
